I’m Juan Manuel Romero-Trejos, born in Cali, Colombia. My family immigrated to the U.S. for the American Dream, settling in diverse New Jersey, where I developed a deep appreciation for culture and connection.

I started my career as an Automotive Technician and later worked as an industrial painter, including at a refinery.

I spent over eight years driving tractor trailers, learning to navigate the Northeast and handle different equipment with care.

I then co-owned a trucking company, driving over 150,000 miles and earning $600,000 in revenue while managing inspections, broker calls, and daily operations.

Driving came easily, but I always felt I had more to give. A talk about tech led me to discover UX Design, combining creativity and psychology.

I joined BrainStation's UX Design Bootcamp, where I surprised myself by learning new skills, completing projects, and giving presentations I never thought I could do.

Blue Collar Era

Just like I’ve faced big changes in life before, I’m now taking on the challenge of a new career. Growing up in a diverse environment helped me create user-focused designs that reflect my love for people.

I’m excited to keep learning and have added animation and design to the skills I gained at BrainStation. I’m proud of how far I’ve come from a place where I thought it wasn’t possible.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
